Hey, everybody! It has been a while since we updated the site but we’ve been so busy updating our social media while our newly award-winning film, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film” has been making the rounds on its film festival run. Here’s the updates thus far:
Stock Footage
We sell stock footage online at Pond5.com and while we have had pretty steady sales, we never expected to sell footage to a major broadcast network! Yes, that’s right, we sold some footage not too long ago to a certain broadcast network for a certain show that we’re not allowed to mention but it’s one of the bigger shows on TV right now! We’re very proud of this achievement and we have the whole contract that we’ll frame in the near future. In addition, while we have traditionally sold very high quality 1080P HD content, we have moved up to 4K and have several hundred clips waiting to be trimmed and edited into stock footage as well as an assortment of remaining 1080P clips. Expect those sometime in the near future but until then, we have a wide assortment of stock media already available that would be great additions to any production.
Youtube
Our channel has been steadily gaining subscribers and views and we’re very pleased with the positive reception to the channel altogether. The exciting news is that we are preparing to make more videos for Youtube specifically and we plan to keep adding more to the channel as time permits. To start, we have three “Fatal Frame” related videos that we’re planning to film soon that will be nice bonus treats for fans of “The Review” and “Fatal Frame” in general. We also have a large multi-episode videogame series that is just about ready to go but may have to wait on that while we work on the……
New Feature Film
We have finished the last draft of the script for our new feature film project. While we can’t say too much about it, we can say that we have already been steadily working on pre-production for it and have been scouting locations around the Northern California area. This will be our first major project filmed not only in 4K but on a RED Digital Cinema Camera! We will also be using the fantastic Sony A7S for its low light performance and 4K imagery which might already tell you that we’re making a dark horror film. Don’t expect monsters or blood and guts though, this movie is going to be scary in a very unique way that’s almost akin to an episode of “The Twilight Zone”. Stay tuned to our social media pages for more as we go along through pre-production!
Film Festivals
We are proud to announce that our film, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film”, is now officially an award-winning film! It has so far been awarded a Bronze Award from the Spotlight Horror Film Awards and has been officially selected to be in the WRPN.TV “Short Tight and Loose” Global Film Festival as well as the Fright Night Film Festival! We’re very excited to see where else the film may go and what awards it might win and we are very grateful for the award and attention the film has gotten so far! In addition, we have decided to take a chance and enter the film into the Sundance Film Festival under their new Episodic Content category! With Sundance being one of the last festivals on the film festival schedule, we think it would be amazing for “The Review” to end its film festival run by being selected to be in the Sundance Film Festival. We know that the Sundance Film Festival is one of the most competitive film festivals in the world so, to help make this happen, we ask our friends and fans alike to help us spread the word about the film offline and online and to connect with us on our social media pages on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and Myspace! Also, if you haven’t seen “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film” on Youtube, you can see the whole four episode series in full length game review versions and the abbreviated “Speed Run Edition” versions here:

It’s been almost a month since the dust settled after NAB 2016 in Las Vegas and after various stints of travel back and forth from California to Nevada, we have some pretty big news! We’ve been hard at work doing pre-production on our first big feature film and we’ve made great progress nailing down the script and figuring out how to make it all happen, as well as looking for locations to film in. The first big question we had to ask ourselves earlier this year was what do we film it on? We have a Sony A7S with an Atomos Shogun to record 4K with it and that is more than capable of filming 99% of the film. However, because this is our first feature, we want it to look its best and have as much quality to work with as possible, meaning 4K RAW. But which camera would be the best for us? Before we even could decide what to do with that question, we knew then that we had to wait for NAB and here’s what happened.

Hi, everybody! Wow! It has been a very busy time over the past months since our last update! We’ve been staying very active on our social media front since we released our film, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film” on Youtube. With several hundred recorded views and thousands of semi-views and climbing, we’re very glad with the turnout for the episodes so far. Moving forward, we have made a short “Feature Cut” version of the film that is a combination of the regular and “Speed Run” editions of the episodes along with several editing and sound tweaks as well as added visual effects elements. This new version has now been sent to dozens of film festivals across the United States and we are anxious to see which festivals the film makes it into. We’ll be sure to announce which festivals select the film right here on the site as well as our social media channels.

Hi, everybody, it’s been a little while since the last update but we have very good reasons and very good news to announce. We’ve released a new film! To celebrate the release of the latest entry in one of our favorite videogame franchises, “The Fatal Frame” series, we put together a new media project for it entitled, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film”. The film is a horror-comedy with Patrick and I playing versions of ourselves and the synopsis is below:

Hi, guys, man have we been busy since our last update! For starters, we attended NAB 2015 and saw all kinds of really cool stuff. Much of it has been discussed across the web with many big announcements still being talked about, namely RED Digital Cinema’s new 8K Weapon camera and Blackmagic Designs’ new low-cost 4.6K URSA offerings. We have photos from the convention but haven’t gotten around to upload them lately due to all of our other developments. We’ll be posting a big photo update on the Babs Do site as well as our Facebook page soon though.

Hey, guys, we’ve just posted 100+ new stock footage clips to Pond5.com and we have 200+ more waiting to be edited and uploaded. We’ve been busy over the previous months putting together a live action project as well as continuing work on our 3D animation project but we’ve also been looking for opportunities for grabbing stock footage whenever we could. We’re going to be playing with some 4K material that we filmed and we now have a Sony A7S in our filmmaking arsenal so getting stock footage in low light shouldn’t be too difficult. It will be pretty exciting to film everything in 4K once we get a 4K recorder for the A7S but, until then, we’ll be uploading mostly in 1080P. We’ve also been toying with the idea of filming RAW footage using our 5D Mark II but we’re not sure how useful that would be since we would have to upload as Prores anyway. If you have any suggestions or stock footage requests, feel free to send us an e-mail.

We just got back from San Francisco after attending the Game Developer’s Conference 2015. Being filmmakers in a videogame developer’s environment was interesting to say the least and what we came away with was some nice convention swag bags and ideas for the future. On display were not only tech demos but also software and hardware solutions for game developers and 3D artists in general. The most popular subject at the show was virtual reality with nearly every booth having a VR helmet of some kind with various accompanying demos. The coolest one we saw was a “Star Wars” demo where you deflected laser blasts with dual lightsabers.

Hey, been a while since our last update! If you’ve been following us on our social media channels then you haven’t missed much but one of our biggest developments is in our stock footage efforts. We have over 200 stock footage clips being edited and put together right now, all 1080P and in either 23.98, 24p, or 60p frame rate. Currently there have been about 30 clips uploaded to Pond5.com and should be posted within the next day or two.
