Hi, everybody! We are at the end of 2024 and about to begin an exciting New Year in 2025! There has been a lot going on since our last update and we have a lot in store in the coming months.

The Diner

Our long in post-production feature film, “The Diner”(working title), is finally nearing the finish line of visual post-production before having a swift and, thankfully, very clean round of audio post-production. As per our previous update, the move out of California and the selling of our family business took quite a lot more of our time than expected and we had months of being unable to really work on the film. However, in the past few months, now that the dust has settled on the move, we have had some great progress and really caught up on our work to where the last quarter of the film is all we have left to visually finalize and that is the section with the least visual effects and background replacement work and, thankfully, very little rotoscope work.

The American Film Market

While “The Diner” wasn’t ready for the market, we had been looking forward to attend the American Film Market to see its first year in Las Vegas as well as to potentially meet investors for Babs Do Studios as well as to gauge interest for Nevada film production going forward with all of the independent filmmakers and production companies attending the market.

The market had quite a large turnout and the session lineup was quite interesting to see with topics on international production, foreign film and media, and advances in independent distribution methods with a highlight of the show being the recent success of Cineverse’s release of “Terrifier 3”, the highest-grossing unrated film ever made.

Many great connections were made at AFM and we secured some additional educational outreach for Babs Do Studios as well. The reactions were unanimously positive and we have maintained connections with several filmmakers and groups that have shown interest in filming in Las Vegas and other areas of Nevada.

The most surprising aspect of the market was the LocationEXPO where various film commission representatives came to showcase their states, regions, and countries for film production and what film tax incentives and facilities they could provide. In my downtime between sessions I would go and speak with each representative and hear what they had to offer and I found that there was a surprisingly consistent message amongst almost all of the commissions. While many offered sometimes very generous and tempting film tax incentives for production, the infrastructure behind it all, the studios, the rental shops, the skilled crews, post-production offices, all of it was either non-existent, down to one or two local companies or a handful of professional groups, and hardly anyone had studio soundstages to advertise save for the Film AlUla from the Saudi Arabian film commission and the Egypt Film Commission.

Babs Do Studios

After attending the AFM and hearing the stories from all the representatives, professionals, and artists from around the country, we came to the decision to open up our Babs Do Studio plan to a new top end goal to establish new film and media infrastructure on a nationwide scale to help provide studio space and services to every state in the country as well as to meet the growing demand of the emerging global entertainment landscape. This would also provide new competition to the reported push from major studios towards international production. By working towards this goal of building new film and media infrastructure domestically, we hope it will help spur new opportunities for American jobs, innovation, and possibly new levels of industry support from state legislatures across the United States that has never been seen before.

2025 & Beyond

In 2025, we are anticipating many exciting updates across both Babs Do Productions and Babs Do Studios:

• New Nevada Film Tax Incentive bills will be presented by Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, and potentially other parties in the beginning months of 2025. The outcome of the vote for new Nevada Film Tax Incentives will determine our direction going forward with Babs Do Studios as well as what comes next for Babs Do Productions.

• “The Diner”(working title) will finish post-production in the near future and we will launch the film’s website, final title, and the film’s trailer.

• We will begin pre-production work on our second feature film that we will announce once “The Diner” is completed and ready for distribution.

• If all goes well for Babs Do Studios in Nevada with the new incentives in place for film and media infrastructure and production, we will begin the first steps towards building our studios in Nevada, whether we start big or small, we have everything in place for great works with our studios.

• We anticipate some of our side projects will also receive attention in the new year as we complete some final touches to get them ready.

• There may also be a good deal of travel in 2025, we’ll have to see!

While 2024 may not have been as active as we had hoped, the timing of everything seems to be lining up nicely for 2025 in a very, very convenient way. We will post more updates as they come and there is very much more work to be done at Babs Do Productions and, hopefully, soon at Babs Do Studios!

Hi, everyone, we are now in 2024, much work has been done with “The Diner”, which is just about finished now, but we have an announcement that we’ve had under wraps for some time.

Our Film Studio Development

As part of the recent call by the State of Nevada for building new infrastructure into film and media production for the state, we have presented a proposal for a modular film studio system that has now been named, Babs Do Studios, LLC.

Our proposal was applauded for its scope and practicality for being based around modular building structures as well as utilizing currently available facilities within Nevada cities. While the state is unable to provide funds for such infrastructure, we are currently looking for investors and exploring partnership opportunities to bring our development to life.

The Diner

We have worked on “The Diner” during our proposal’s development phase and last minute tweaks and changes have been taking place to make it the best film it can be. Some VFX had to be recreated in much better and more efficient ways that we’ve learned to do much better as time has gone on. As stated in the past, work on this phase has ramped up considerably so it shouldn’t be too much longer for the next update on the film as we aim to have it finished very soon in 2024.

Other Developments

– Our father has retired from his medical practice, Stockton Urgent Care, and so the other members of our family are all moving to join Patrick and I in Las Vegas. Needless to say we will have to take time to help in this move but it will be the best for our family going forward as long distance travel has been hard to manage with all of our different schedules.

– As work on our current film is closing, our next film is coming together more and more. We have our next project lined up and we’re going to be finishing a final draft soon to bring it closer to pre-production. If our studio development succeeds, this will naturally launch our progress forward considerably for this and several of our upcoming projects to come.

With that, we are covered on our updates and as of this moment we are attending the 2024 session of the NAB Show Convention to look for new innovations in technology for our Studios as well as potential partnerships and new connections that might help us bring Babs Do Studios, LLC, together. It’s only been our first day at the show so, as always, stay tuned for more!

Hi, everyone, we are now all the way at the start of December 2023 and we have a big update on what is going on at Babs Do Productions!

The Movie – Officially “Almost, Almost Done”

Since our last update, we have indeed been hard at work on all of those “little” fixes in the film that we talked about and nailing the final look of the film before we get into our 7.1 Audio Post Production process. Going through and removing signs in the backgrounds and correcting reflection and texture problems from our blackout tarp in the windows and backgrounds of our diner has really led to some pretty tedious post work. It has all paid off and we are now on the last quarter of the film which has many color correction-only scenes that will go very quickly now that we have the overall look of the film figured out. Once we finish this section of the film we will be going back through to do final looks before locking the picture and moving on to Audio Post Production. It’s taken a lot of work and the end of Post Production is in sight!

Personal Lives

Most of the time since our last update has literally been staying glued to our computers to finish the film as much as we could.  We are thankful that our parents’ health has been much better and we are all looking forward to having a Christmas where everyone is healthy, happy, and at home together.

Developments

My brother and I have been looking at our next film projects and we can see that there is a lot of work that is going to take place in the coming year. Now that “The Diner” is almost done, we have several exciting side projects coming to the forefront that we have been working on.

The Next Film

We have the script planned out for our light hearted comedy and it is going to be short work to get a finished script ready to go on the next great production for Babs Do. We also have a cast in mind and leave no permanent decision on any of them as we know the budget and timing for the production are going to depend on several factors. All in all, we anticipate that this will be our first production in Nevada and after looking at the resources available through the Nevada Film Office, we can see that this production should have no problem getting made as we imagined it.

Online Content

Patrick is looking into starting a new streaming channel to follow the production of some of our new animated works! Yes, Babs Do Productions is returning to our original path towards animated content in a big new way! Combining motion capture and new animation techniques, a number of shows are in the works and we have written several episodes already for each show. We anticipate animation production to take place in 2024 and we are currently planning out our social media strategies in anticipation of the launch of the debut episode of our first animated series.

In addition, I have taken spare time to film episodes for a series of camera, filmmaking, and technology videos that I plan to add to our online content library, potentially as a series or collected resource, but ultimately as a side project while working on our bigger feature film and television productions. Even though we always thought to keep things under one banner, we are considering branching some of these projects off into another brand or subsidiary LLC of Babs Do Productions but everything is still in the early development stages at this point. Until further notice, stay tuned on this front!

In Conclusion

For this long awaited update we have not only outlined our progress but also shown our ambitious outlook for 2024 and beyond. A lot of good work has gone into “The Diner” and we know the wait will be worth it! We are planning for a test screening of “The Diner” once we complete Audio Post Production in 2024 and if all goes well we will post an update about that very soon. The film’s website and the first trailer will also be points of excitement to look forward to as we build towards getting wide distribution for the film.

Hi, everyone, we know it’s been a bit dusty around here but we wanted to finally post an update about “The Diner”!

Summary – 2020 to Present

The worldwide event we all went through during 2020-2021 was terrible and we thankfully got through it all unscathed! Our parents’ health had and still has been a concern and both of them had issues here and there that were thankfully easily resolved without much risk with the pandemic having mostly slowed down by then. We did lose some pets along the way which made for some hard days. We also made a big move, Patrick and I have fully relocated to Las Vegas full time and are setting the stage for our next feature film(s) to be made in and all around the Las Vegas area.

In regards to “The Diner”, during this time we took whatever free time we had to work on nailing the edit of the film and hammer out the biggest VFX work for the film. The work had been tedious and time consuming with rotoscope, learning new plugins, abandoning certain plugins, and finding new ways (and better ways) to do things in post. 3D modeling work continued and we got some very nice results coming through as well. We also worked in one last reshoot with a performer to fix a story issue and to sweeten their character’s arc in the film.

2023

We are now finishing up the film, most of the heaviest VFX scenes are done and may only need touch ups to correct any color and exposure settings to match the later post work. Lots of cleanup rotoscope fixes and minor VFX remain and we are looking forward to doing a test screening for final looks and any adjustments to finalize the visuals of the film. Audio and music will be next and we have moved up to doing a 7.1 mix instead of a 5.1 mix to satisfy certain distribution routes and the film can make great use of the added aural space and atmosphere.

Outlook

We are absolutely excited to show the film to the world! While we will have to evaluate our options for festival submissions once the film is completed (very soon!), we are glad to see that, despite the effects on the industry from the pandemic, most of our festival selections are still operating and continuing to give filmmakers of all kinds a chance at finding distribution for their works.

While we may have had certain plans for when the film was ready, we will have to see about the timing of our festival submissions and adjust our plans accordingly. Particularly in our location scouting for our next film and unveiling sneak peeks at our other works at Babs Do Productions. Everything is variable and it all depends on finishing the film, so we expect to share changes and updates as they come.

All in all, we are confident that “The Diner” will make waves and be the great hit we dreamed it would be and all we can say for now is, stay tuned!

What A Year

So, as you can tell, it has been a while since our last update on the site! The year 2020 has been a surprising twist in the Babs Do Productions story to say the least. A pandemic, state lock downs, riots, economic turmoil, the complete meltdown of movie theaters and film distribution as a whole that has yet to be fully worked out, it has been a trying time to make a debut feature film!

How We’ve Been

Patrick and I have been doing our best despite the circumstances. Adjusting to life under a variably locked down pandemic has been trying at times but we’ve made it through with our family and, thankfully, without any kind of illness to speak of. For the most part, we knew we would be spending a lot of time at home as it was since we are in the post production stage of our film but we didn’t know we would literally “have to be” stuck indoors.

What We’ve Been Doing

We have been working on tweaking the edit of the film as we have gone through setting up visual effects shots and creating photo-realistic 3D models to complete several scenes in the film. Due to the long lengths of time being eaten up by our 3D rendering, we decided the best thing to do was upgrade our main workstation to the latest hardware, going from a Dual Six-Core Intel Xeon system to a 64-core AMD Threadripper solution that has incredibly sped up our workflow. We have also been filming prop inserts and other shots to add flowing action, transitions, and atmosphere to the film.

Aside from 3D and VFX work for the film, we have been developing another animated series in case the pandemic caused us to have to change the timing of our next feature film, it’s a pretty interesting choice and should please a lot of animation fans! It’s still very early yet but we have quickly written the pilot episode and have at least two seasons mapped out.

The Move

During the past few months, with the pandemic getting more heated in California, we decided that it was best to move and go back to Las Vegas. Our next feature film is, ideally, going to be set in the Las Vegas area so it was natural to go back and start getting a feel for the area again and figuring out exactly how and where we’re going to film while we develop the script further than our initial story plans.

The move slowed us down only in that we had to take apart and move a lot of our computer and filmmaking equipment from one state to the other as well as having to reorganize our Las Vegas residence to fit it all into place. We haven’t completed the move yet but we have what we need to work on the film and everything, as of now, is moved into place where it needs to be.

Unexpected Problems

We had an unexpected hard drive failure in our RAID storage array for the film and had to troubleshoot the problem. Turns out we had it all, a dead hard drive, a bad SAS data cable, and a dead RAID card! This took a little while to fix as we had to wait for complex in-demand parts during a time when shipping times aren’t a guaranteed thing. Thankfully, once the parts came in, our RAID was able to rebuild itself successfully and things run a lot faster than they did with the old RAID card!

Knowing that we didn’t need everything moved back with us right away in Las Vegas, we decided to move back in stages, bringing just a set amount of things at a time and giving ourselves a chance to clean and reorganize to best fit everything in before going back to California for the next batch. We’re still checking and adjusting the edit of the film so we haven’t filmed all the insert shots as of yet since things have been changing slightly here and there so costumes, props, and certain filming equipment was left for one of our next batches. Then, California decided to lock down further as the pandemic there got even worse! Since our mother is staying with us in Las Vegas, we decided to hold off until things calmed down as traveling back to a highly infectious area for props and costumes wasn’t worth the inherent risk to our mother’s health or our own.

What’s Next?

While the remaining few live-action insert shots will have to wait, the ones we did film have gone into the edit perfectly and filled out some noticeable gaps in the timeline. Ultimately, most of the insert shots we need are 3D in nature so we have to go through with our soon to be finalized models and render out the shots, matching them with the footage when needed, so that can, thankfully, be done with what we have. Also, I have been listening to the film and adjusting some sound areas before the final sound design stage and I’ve already fixed some definite ADR spots with some careful editing.

Final insert shots or not, once we have picture lock for the majority of the film at least, we will be contacting some of the actors for an ADR session, whether that takes place over video chat or in person is anybody’s guess at this point. Once we have that, we can add in the remaining insert shots once they’re filmed and start adjusting and finalizing our sound design and music which are already sounding great!

Aside from the film, we’re planning on getting not only into developing other film and TV projects but also taking up some new creative outlets such as returning to our Youtube channel with new videos including a possible videogame-related follow up to “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film” and, quite possibly, another first, writing a book!

In Conclusion

While many things have changed and many others still are in flux, Babs Do Productions is staying flexible and very aware of current world and industry events so that we can plan accordingly for the future. We know that the worst thing we could do is do nothing during this time and while we regret not doing more, we have to remind ourselves that we have been living through situations that were, until now, only dreamed up and realized through media and fiction.

At the end of this troubled year, we will be spending the holidays with family and friends, though we will all be spread apart, whether it is a text, a video chat, or a cheerful phone call, we will still be together nonetheless. I can’t guarantee when the next update will be exactly, whether here or on social media, as you can tell from the rest of this update, we are going to be very busy going into the new year and beyond.

It’s Official…

It’s official, we just wrapped production on our first feature film! After a several months long hiatus to care for our parents, we filmed one final round of reshoots at the end of August for “The Diner”(working title), with most of the cast coming back, excited to return. As of our last post in December, we had hoped to film sooner but our parents’ care came first and we were forced to delay. During our hiatus, we took time to assemble a first cut of the film that wowed our returning cast and crew and, humorously, they were delighted to remind us throughout the reshoots about the parts we needed to film and things they wanted to try. As a filmmaker, I appreciated these moments and the camaraderie that the film inspired amongst everyone involved, even in it’s rough state being filled with editing notes and very quick and early VFX. This is our first feature film and the feeling of knowing that we were at the end of production was indescribable, falling somewhere between happy relief and sad goodbye. Now, of course, the second hardest part comes with post production and editing the final cut, filming prop and VFX plate inserts, finding a musician, and ultimately selling the film. Throughout September, we’ll be working every day to ensure picture lock as soon as possible for certain film festival submissions and to get the film ready for whatever distribution path it’s presented with. In this time, we will also be launching the website for the film as well as introducing its true title.

Next Up

As for what comes next, we already have the story beats and most of the characters figured out for our next feature film which will be a comedy. We can’t say too much at this time but we hope to start writing and perhaps casting fairly soon. Also, during our downtime, we filmed a few videos for our Youtube channel that we’ll edit together and post as soon as possible, albeit with the feature film primarily taking all of our focus and time.

In Conclusion… For Now

Needless to say, this has been a very busy summer and a very busy year since we started filming this very awesome movie and we joke that the years long behind the scenes making of the film could be a movie all its own! Who knows? Maybe one day! For now though, we’re going to be getting right back to it and putting all the finishing touches on this fantastic supernatural thriller and we hope you all will be able to watch and enjoy it very soon. So…. We Made A Movie!

Season’s greetings to all of our friends and fans! We know this update is a little behind the holidays with Christmas day now past us, nonetheless, we hope you all had a wonderful December and that all of your holiday dreams came true!

To start with our headline, yes, we wrapped principal photography on our supernatural-thriller, “The Diner” (working title)! We wrapped in early July and since then, we’ve dived right into editing and have been scheduling reshoots along the way with occasional stops for family time, events, and, of course, San Diego Comic-Con 2018.

How Did It Turn Out?

The film has been shaping up in the edit with many of our practical effects looking phenomenal! We’re very thankful that our green screen sequences have been flawless as well which is important as they take up half the movie. We can see some areas that still require reshoots and pickups, mostly small technical things like a look or a missed take for a line or two and we plan to take a week out to film early in the new year. Our actors’ performances have been spot-on as well and we feel very blessed to have worked with such talented professionals that just clicked with us and the movie right away. The sound of the film has also been nice and clear which is a lifesaver as we were filming at a working restaurant in a well trafficked area with a good deal of car noise and, so far, not all that much ended up in the raw recordings.

The Unexpected

While we had hoped to have this update posted sooner than this, we faced an unfortunate series of events over the past couple months that has for the most part, literally stopped us in our tracks. In early October, our father woke up with severe back pain and had to have emergency surgery that left him partially paralyzed for the next several months. Then, the day after Halloween, our mother had to be put in the hospital after a cold turned into a severe case of pneumonia that the stress of which caused a stroke. Both parents now require constant care and help moving around in general so much of our schedule has, understandably, been put on hold. We are very thankful that both of our parents could be together with us for Christmas after being in the hospital and physical therapy stay up until last week. While it will take time, both of our parents will make full recoveries over the next several months in regards to mobility and overall strength. We want to thank everyone who sent prayers and well wishes during this unexpected and unfortunate time. We will of course have to factor these circumstances into our future plans so we ask that you understand if our next update takes a little longer to post as well.

What’s Next?

So, as stated already, we’re planning for another round of reshoots early in the new year and once we have those, we’ll be able to add our remaining prop inserts and stock footage elements to have a first cut of the film. From there we’ll tackle visual effects and sound design and begin looking at our music options for the film, including possibly hiring a composer. Once we have a final cut, we plan to do a small local premiere for our cast, crew, and family and friends to show what we’ve been working on all this time. Along the way we’ll also be looking at our festival and distribution options as well as putting together the movie’s website and premiering the true title of the film!

Our Next Project

Lastly, we wanted to mention that we have our next project planned to film, hopefully, next year. We’re keeping details short and under wraps for now but we have the story mapped out, we’re going to start writing the script next week, we’re currently planning to film in Stockton, California and Henderson, Nevada, and, it’s going to be a venture in comedy!

In Conclusion

We hope this update answers a few questions about where we’ve been and our lack of updates on the site and our social media. Despite everything, we are very excited about our first feature film and hope that the finished product lives up to expectations. It is a unique film made on a modest indie budget and, if it’s successful, we already have an idea for a slightly higher budget sequel! But, in the meantime, our comedy project is going to be our main focus while we still have all of our equipment and filmmaking senses at the ready. If this past year was a year for incredible progress, 2019 looks to be a year of adventure into the unknown. Hey, everybody, these past months have been incredibly busy but now is time for a new update!

Feature Film – “The Diner”

We are very excited to announce that filming will soon commence on our feature film, “The Diner”! It has been an unexpectedly long road to reach this point but now we’re here and ready to use every filmmaking trick in the book on a daily basis and we can’t wait!

Casting

Casting is nearly completed for the film and we are amazed at how lucky we are to have found talent that truly lifts our characters right off the page. Auditioning and meeting so many wonderful performers has been really inspiring and we’ve taken note of many names for future projects.

Work, Work, Work All the Time

The paperwork and scheduling on the film has been, admittedly, the most difficult part thus far. We had always wondered why it was summarily glossed over in film school and even the various filmmaking books tend to sidestep the subject. Perhaps this would make an interesting educational Youtube video? We’ll have to see! In the end, truly, when it comes to pre-production, never has a truer word been spoken than to describe it as “work” and we love it.

Progress

While I can’t say much in this post, I can say that it’s pretty clear that, since our last update, we have made an incredible amount of progress. A film that was once a far off dream is now becoming a reality and, more than that, it’s going to be a really cool movie! We don’t know when our next update will be but we will definitely keep you posted and, as always, stay tuned!

It’s that time again for another update from Babs Do Productions! I wish this update was entirely positive, however, some things have happened since our last update and, most recently, we’ve had some alarming and troubling times.

Family

Most recently, we have been dealing with some medical drama since the end of October that came up out of nowhere after a “one in a billion”-type accident with a member of our family. Once the accident happened, things shockingly spiraled out of control and got increasingly and unexpectedly worse from what we had thought was a minor injury. Thankfully, after weeks of treatments and a complete diagnosis, things have calmed significantly with at home medical treatments and care now being a regular part of our day all the way through the holiday season and into the new year.

Feature Film 

Locations

Our last update before this was in May of 2017. At the time we had been preparing to film during the Summer months and start our casting process. However, things took a turn a few weeks later when we received a call from the owners of the restaurant we had planned to film in and the news was not good. They had decided to back out of the film for a variety of reasons that were, to our understanding, things we had already discussed and agreed to well in advance over several months prior. It wasn’t a matter of money as they were the ones who offered to let us use the restaurant for free in exchange for all the publicity that the film would bring. It wasn’t a matter of the film production itself as we had been stopping in regularly after hours to test and discuss ideas and concerns as we finalized the script and other pre-production tasks as we went along. What ultimately brought an end to our production at the restaurant, according to this troubling phone call, was that the film was going to be a “horror” film. Before we could even say anything, the line went dead and that was that.

Yes, “The Diner”, as we currently call it under its working title, does have some scary moments and there are some supernatural elements. However, the film is rather unique and, without giving anything away, we feel confident in calling the film a “supernatural thriller” which is more accurate than simply labeling it a “horror” film. Despite the offer to do a table-read of the script with the owners of the restaurant, we were unable to get another chance to state our case. It was a strange rejection and one that still haunts us even now as the whole thing made us wonder if any of those things said on the phone were really the reasons we were rejected. In any case, it cost us our location, our time, and an entire Summer so that we could find another restaurant location to serve as our “Diner”. It wasn’t an ideal situation but we’ve heard of these things happening to films before so, if anything, we can at least say that it’s happened to us too and that we have passed through this filmmaking rite of passage.

Casting

We had started casting in August, keeping things rather under wraps and through strictly professional channels on casting websites like Backstage and SFCasting as well as a couple others closer to our filming area. Considering our budget, we had decided to try casting primarily for local non-union talent but quickly realized that to satisfy our diverse casting needs, we would have to do more and made the decision to become a SAG-AFTRA production. Since then, we are happy to report that we have received a veritable tidal wave of submissions for all of our characters! We were ready to restart the casting process in October and were already worried about scheduling issues with the upcoming holiday season, however, fate stepped in and delivered an immediate hold on everything as described above under “Family”.

Also, to our actors and actresses applying for our film, we are currently planning to hold auditions early in 2018. Many have submitted for “The Diner” already and, to those who haven’t submitted yet, please do as we have a very diverse cast and aside from being highly location-centric, this film, more so, is all about its characters.

Script

Despite everything, we have taken extra steps during our downtime to constantly work on new drafts of the script. The fundamentals haven’t changed much, however, many new ideas and practical considerations became very apparent to us while doing tests at our main locations. The most recent draft is still being ironed out but it’s the best version yet and will most likely be our shooting script, barring any last minute changes or other ideas springing up during production which is quite common and very much expected.

Production

Much about our production is staying the same with a RED One MX being our main camera of choice for the film. We have several lenses to choose from including modern Rokinon Cinema lenses as well as a selection of unique and high quality SLR lenses to choose from to aid in the overall look of the film. Perhaps the most significantly changed aspect of the film is our lighting as we had mapped out an entire lighting diagram for the first restaurant but now the second restaurant will require an entirely new line of thinking and a wholly different bag of tricks. Thankfully we have been in situations like this before on other films with having to switch or drop locations at the last minute so we are well prepared for just about anything. We will also be staying green with strictly LED-based lighting solutions and, surprisingly, new tools and solutions are seemingly coming out every day to help make this film look its best.

The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film

Aside from the development on our feature film, our previous short form web series, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film” has won 21 awards! We are so honored to have received so much praise and accolades for the film thus far and the film festival run is continuing into 2018! We have received many invitations to submit to other festivals and many other opportunities have opened up for the film along the way. Being a fan film, we know that options for distribution are limited unless Nintendo reaches out to us but, if nothing else, we hope that people enjoy watching the film and have fun with it for as long as its film festival run lasts.

Our Youtube Channel

We have been mentioning work on our Youtube channel for a while now but haven’t gotten around to it for some time for a variety of reasons. Whether it’s working on the feature film, doing family activities planned in advance of our Summer production location halt, or taking care of a family medical emergency, we just haven’t been able to dedicate time and effort into it. This is all going to change as we have various videos planned and a dedication to film, edit, and upload a mix of entertaining and educational content for your viewing pleasure! One of the projects is a much delayed and very exciting “Fatal Frame” based video that will most likely be our last video on the subject. We’ll definitely share more once the videos are done and we plan to work on these around the feature film so that we have a nice mix of things going on all at once. Whether this leads to a Patreon or similar setup is still up in the air but if there’s any interest for that kind of thing from us, please let us know, we want to make cool stuff for you!

Summary

All in all, this year has given us many twists and turns and some good stories for the future! While we’re still dealing with some things in our personal lives, Babs Do Productions is still on track to make movies and tell some amazing stories and even though 2017 wasn’t the year we thought it would be, it certainly has prepared us for an incredible 2018! Hi, everyone, it has been a very busy new year since our last major Babs Do Update! We have been preparing so many things all at once and making strides in the industry on a seemingly daily basis, as well as coming up with a massive store of content for our online endeavors! Now, for our updates:

The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film

Our multi-award-winning film, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film” has been having an explosive run in film festivals with a current total of 15 award wins, including several First Place awards! We have many more film festival submissions in the consideration stage, along with several invited submissions, that stretches the film’s run well into 2018. We are so grateful to the festivals that have accepted our film and we are completely blown away with all of the honors and awards the film has received so far and we can’t wait to see where the film goes from here!

Our First Feature Film

We have been making all of the preparations and signing a whole lot of forms to get our first feature film off the ground. Purchasing all of the necessary equipment has been a big part of this process as well, including testing out new tools to make the film really shine. Now, we’re officially starting the casting process! We’ve put out notices in some local groups where we’re filming and we’re going to be looking for talent online very soon.

There are so many projects we have planned for our Youtube channel it’s unbelievable! While we don’t think that we’ll do something quite as elaborate as “The Review” in the near future, we do have some more videogame-based videos planned, as well as a couple of “Fatal Frame” videos that have been on the backburner while we’ve been working on our first feature film.

The Next Step

Our first feature film is our main focus at the moment and we are very eager and excited to get cameras rolling! Casting will ultimately determine when that will happen so we’re looking forward to seeing what talent we find along the way. We want to provide more updates as they come but things are happening so fast that our social media channels will be the best way to stay up to date with our progress.
