It’s been almost a month since the dust settled after NAB 2016 in Las Vegas and after various stints of travel back and forth from California to Nevada, we have some pretty big news! We’ve been hard at work doing pre-production on our first big feature film and we’ve made great progress nailing down the script and figuring out how to make it all happen, as well as looking for locations to film in. The first big question we had to ask ourselves earlier this year was what do we film it on? We have a Sony A7S with an Atomos Shogun to record 4K with it and that is more than capable of filming 99% of the film. However, because this is our first feature, we want it to look its best and have as much quality to work with as possible, meaning 4K RAW. But which camera would be the best for us? Before we even could decide what to do with that question, we knew then that we had to wait for NAB and here’s what happened.

Hi, everybody! Wow! It has been a very busy time over the past months since our last update! We’ve been staying very active on our social media front since we released our film, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film” on Youtube. With several hundred recorded views and thousands of semi-views and climbing, we’re very glad with the turnout for the episodes so far. Moving forward, we have made a short “Feature Cut” version of the film that is a combination of the regular and “Speed Run” editions of the episodes along with several editing and sound tweaks as well as added visual effects elements. This new version has now been sent to dozens of film festivals across the United States and we are anxious to see which festivals the film makes it into. We’ll be sure to announce which festivals select the film right here on the site as well as our social media channels.

Hi, everybody, it’s been a little while since the last update but we have very good reasons and very good news to announce. We’ve released a new film! To celebrate the release of the latest entry in one of our favorite videogame franchises, “The Fatal Frame” series, we put together a new media project for it entitled, “The Review – A Fatal Frame Fan Film”. The film is a horror-comedy with Patrick and I playing versions of ourselves and the synopsis is below:

Hi, guys, man have we been busy since our last update! For starters, we attended NAB 2015 and saw all kinds of really cool stuff. Much of it has been discussed across the web with many big announcements still being talked about, namely RED Digital Cinema’s new 8K Weapon camera and Blackmagic Designs’ new low-cost 4.6K URSA offerings. We have photos from the convention but haven’t gotten around to upload them lately due to all of our other developments. We’ll be posting a big photo update on the Babs Do site as well as our Facebook page soon though.

Hey, guys, we’ve just posted 100+ new stock footage clips to Pond5.com and we have 200+ more waiting to be edited and uploaded. We’ve been busy over the previous months putting together a live action project as well as continuing work on our 3D animation project but we’ve also been looking for opportunities for grabbing stock footage whenever we could. We’re going to be playing with some 4K material that we filmed and we now have a Sony A7S in our filmmaking arsenal so getting stock footage in low light shouldn’t be too difficult. It will be pretty exciting to film everything in 4K once we get a 4K recorder for the A7S but, until then, we’ll be uploading mostly in 1080P. We’ve also been toying with the idea of filming RAW footage using our 5D Mark II but we’re not sure how useful that would be since we would have to upload as Prores anyway. If you have any suggestions or stock footage requests, feel free to send us an e-mail.

We just got back from San Francisco after attending the Game Developer’s Conference 2015. Being filmmakers in a videogame developer’s environment was interesting to say the least and what we came away with was some nice convention swag bags and ideas for the future. On display were not only tech demos but also software and hardware solutions for game developers and 3D artists in general. The most popular subject at the show was virtual reality with nearly every booth having a VR helmet of some kind with various accompanying demos. The coolest one we saw was a “Star Wars” demo where you deflected laser blasts with dual lightsabers.

We have over 200 stock footage clips being edited and put together right now, all 1080P and in either 23.98, 24p, or 60p frame rate. Currently there have been about 30 clips uploaded to Pond5.com and should be posted within the next day or two.
