200+ New Stock Footage Clips and Other Updates

Posted by BabsDoProd - in Uncategorized - No Comments

Hey, been a while since our last update! If you’ve been following us on our social media channels then you haven’t missed much but one of our biggest developments is in our stock footage efforts. We have over 200 stock footage clips being edited and put together right now, all 1080P and in either 23.98, 24p, or 60p frame rate. Currently there have been about 30 clips uploaded to Pond5.com and should be posted within the next day or two.

Our current cameras include a Canon 5D Mark II, Sony HX9V, Sony RX100, and a Nokia Pureview 808. We’ve been experimenting with a Galaxy Note 3 for 4K video purposes but, rather than deal with the inherit drawbacks of cellphone video production, we would ideally like to upgrade to either a higher grade 1080P camera like a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera or a Sony RX10 for the uncompressed video option or even a full on professional 4K option like a RED Scarlet, Blackmagic Cinema 4K, Canon 1DC, Panasonic GH4, or Sony A7S when it comes out. If our stock media sells enough after this major update we’ll definitely look at our options so we can offer even higher quality stock footage but we’ll see when we get there.

On a related note, a project we’re working on involves some anamorphic lenses and adapters so we’re looking at possibly offering anamorphic stock footage as well, at least a few clips to start just to gauge interest.

After attending NAB this year we’ve also been looking at maybe getting into aerial drone video with the DJI Phantom 2 system. In addition to opening up a whole world of shooting options it just looks like so much fun! Our camera choices for that would either be a Sony RX100, Sony RX10, or simply be Go Pro-based which would be cool for 2K resolution work. Although, the latest rumor is that a 4K 24p/30p Go Pro 4 is going to be released sometime in Summer 2014 so that would be an overall great addition to our stock video efforts, especially for underwater work, and we can even go anamorphic with it too thanks to the AnamorphX Go Pro attachment from Letus Direct!

All in all, we’re always looking out for new ways to film cool and (hopefully) useful stuff for fellow artists and professionals. We’d love to hear any feedback, suggestions, or requests as well, just drop us a line on our contact e-mail and we’ll see what we can do (no guarantees or promises of course). An upcoming project we’re working on is going to be a little educational as well so you should definitely be sure to check back or stay connected on our social media channels to see what cool stuff we have in store for the near future. As always, stay tuned!
